Justin Randall Timberlake was born on January 31, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Lynn and Randall Timberlake, whose own father was a Baptist minister.
He is an American singer, songwriter, and actor.[2] Timberlake is known for his diverse artistry in songwriting, showmanship, tenor vocal range, and music production. He is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades, including ten Grammy Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, three Brit Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, the Contemporary Icon Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and MTV’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. According to Billboard, Timberlake is the best performing male solo artist in the history of the Mainstream Top 40.
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Timberlake appeared on musical television shows as a child, competing on Star Search; in the early to mid-1990s, he was a main cast member of Disney’s Mickey Mouse Club. Timberlake later rose to prominence in late 1997 as the lead vocalists for the boyband *NSYNC. The group released four commercially successful studio albums, becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
After being arrested and taken to a police station in nearby East Hampton, he refused a breath test, said the court papers, which listed his occupation as “professional” and said he’s “self-employed.”
The boy band singer-turned-solo star and actor was driving a 2025 BMW in Sag Harbor around 12:30 a.m. when an officer stopped him and determined he was intoxicated, according to a court document.
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” the court papers said.
Timberlake, 43, told the officer he had one martini and was following some friends home, according to the documents. After being arrested and taken to a police station in nearby East Hampton, he refused a breath test, said the court papers, which listed his occupation as “professional” and said he’s “self-employed.”
The 10-time Grammy winner was released without bond later Tuesday morning after being arraigned in Sag Harbor. He was charged with a driving-while-intoxicated misdemeanor, and his next court date was scheduled for July 26, the Suffolk County district attorney’s office said.
Edward Burke Jr., a local lawyer representing Timberlake, declined to comment other than to say he doesn’t need to appear in person so far.
